GreenCons tackles the growing issue of greenwashing—when companies mislead consumers by falsely marketing their products or practices as environmentally friendly. This project empowers adults with the skills to recognize and challenge such deceptive claims, encouraging more informed and responsible consumer choices.
GreenCons – Empowering Responsible Consumption
GreenCons (Erasmus+ KA2 Project No. 2024‑1‑DE02‑KA220‑ADU‑000244343) champions the mission of strengthening adults’ ability to critically navigate environmental claims and fostering sustainable consumption. GreenCons
🎯 Main Objectives
- Equip adults with critical thinking tools to spot and resist greenwashing in everyday life.
- Support adult education centers as key actors in promoting responsible, sustainable consumption.
- Raise public awareness about environmental misinformation and enhance trust in genuine sustainability efforts.
🔍 What the Project Does
GreenCons addresses the growing challenge of greenwashing — marketing tactics by some companies that mislead consumers into believing a product or service is more environmentally friendly than it is.
Working with adult learners and education centers, GreenCons will:
- Analyze adult attitudes toward greenwashing via focus groups
- Investigate real-world corporate greenwashing practices globally
- Develop practical tools such as the Anti-Greenwashing Handbook and digital learning materials to help people and institutions identify and oppose misleading claims
By combining research, case studies, and educational resources, GreenCons aims to transform awareness into action — helping adults become smarter consumers, and supporting education centers in shaping a more sustainable future. For more details, visit the project website: green-cons.com
